This might be our most controversial placement. Hong Ha is a Sydney institution, but on our latest visit, it fell short of its legendary status. There was barely any pate to speak of, the meats were noticeably chewy, and the flavor was overpowered by way too much onion. It stays on the list for its legacy, but it's definitely resting on its laurels.

An iconic spot, but currently suffering from chewy meats and unbalanced flavors. There was barely any pate to speak of, and the flavor was overpowered by way too much onion. It stays on the list for its legacy, but it's definitely resting on its laurels.

Used to be my go-to but something's changed. The bread is still good but the filling quality has dropped. The pate is basically non-existent now. Sad to see.

Still a decent roll for the area but not what it used to be. The reputation carries it. If you're nearby it's fine but I wouldn't travel for it anymore.

Solid banh mi for the area. Nothing extraordinary but reliably good. The classic pork is well-seasoned and the price is fair.

Good quality banh mi with fresh ingredients. The bread has a nice crunch and the service is friendly. A reliable neighbourhood option.
